![]() ![]() In engineering, if a result is stochastic then it is random, I would never use median or any percentile as an average (TIL median is "an average"). I would take it in consideration with some appropriate weighting in the mean, insteaf of relying on the median magically ignore just the rich. If making a political decision maybe the large numbers of people in the lower income range should be favoured. I just wonder if reality is that extreme such that the presence of a few billionaires in the population affects the result that significantly.
